Back trajectories use 48 hours of history data to be in a station (a point) after a 24 hour time period. The last point is the station location.
Weather summaries with air parcel trajectories have been made for each of the C-130, ER-2 and the Canadian CV-580 flights. Trajectories were calculated back 6 days from 00 UT on the flight day. The NOAA NCEP Final Analysis fields every 12 hours were used. The trajectories start at the SHEBA ship position, at 6 levels: surface, 1.0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0, and 9.0 km. They follow isentropic surfaces, although the height changes are not shown. For the Canadian flights, a second plot starting from the flight area is included. There are very large differences in trajectories between flights, so don't assume that what is shown applies to a neighboring location. A summary paper for the trajectories is planned to be written in the next few weeks.
