This true-color image over Lake Powell was acquired by Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) in late March 2000.
Lake Powell was formed with the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963, on the Colorado River in Page, Arizona and is the second largest man-made lake in the United States. The lake is 187 miles long with 96 major side canyons and holds approximately 8.5 trillion gallons of water. The lake's coast line of approximately 1960 miles is greater than the west coast of the United States between Seattle and San Diego.
