Data Pool Description

ASDC Data Pool

• DataPool will transition from l5eil01 to l5ftl01 May 2016  • Access to the Data Pool is suspended during weekly maintenance  • Availability of data products are subject to change  • Safari 3 users may have difficulty obtaining data via the FTP interface  • Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) no longer allows "drag and drop" FTP access  • Set up IE7 for FTP sessions: Select "Tools", "Internet Options", "Advanced" tab, "Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer)" under "Browsing"  • Use IE7 for FTP sessions: a) Select "View", "Open FTP site in Windows Explorer" or b) Open Windows Explorer and enter the URL for the FTP site in the address bar

The Data Pool is an on-line data cache that provides FTP access to select ASDC data products. Specially subsetted and/or reformatted MISR data products supporting field campaigns are also available. Data files are stored in directories based on data product and acquisition date. Corresponding metadata files are also available in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format. A UNIX C shell script method may be used to assist in downloading files from the Data Pool (Readme | Sample script). Passive FTP mode is required to access the Data Pool from the command line as "ftp -p", where the system translates to "lower case L 5ei lower case L zero one".

The Data Pool server l5eil01 will soon be transitioning to l5ftl01. Please make any necessary script updates and plan accordingly.
Issues and concerns should be sent directly to our User Services Team
