MOPITT Processing Status

Version 4, 5 & 6

As previously announced, MOPITT V4 processing officially ended on December 31, 2012. Processing and deliveries of the V5-TIR, V5-NIR, and V5 TIR/NIR products will continue for the foreseeable future. A manuscript presenting validation results for the V5 products was submitted to JGR.

MOPITT Error 2012

Versions 3, 4, and 5; Levels 1 and 2

A small systematic error in the MOPITT geolocation values (latitude and longitude) has been identified. This issue affects both current (V4 and V5) and previous (V3) MOPITT operational products.

New NVAP-M Data Set

The NASA MEaSUREs program began in 2008 and has the goal of creating stable, community accepted Earth System Data Records (ESDRs) for a variety of geophysical time series. A reanalysis and extension of the NASA Water Vapor Project (NVAP), called NVAP-M is being performed as part of this program.

MOPITT V5 reprocessing

Version 5; Levels 1 and 2

MOPITT V5 products for observations made from March, 2000 through the end of 2009 have been reprocessed. After delivering the original V5 L1 and L2 products for this period, MOPITT SIPS personnel became aware of several minor processing problems.

MOPITT V4 processing error

Version 4

The MOPITT/NCAR team discovered a data processing error that affects all V4 products previously generated for the period between Sept. 14, 2010 and March 13, 2011, inclusive. As a result, V4 products for this period have been reprocessed and redelivered to the NASA ASDC.
